Mystery Scene magazine has snagged Lawrence Block as a new columnist. Block is author of over 60 novels (including the Matt Scudder and Bernie Rhodenbarr series) and a Mystery Writers of America Grand Master and four-time winner of the Edgar Allan Poe and Shamus Awards. According to the press release, Block is expected to "bring a treasure trove of memories, anecdotes, and insights from a literary lifetime to his Mystery Scene column 'The Murders in Memory Lane.'"
The "best" lists of 2009 crime fiction continue to roll out in the press. Marilyn Stasio at the New York Times named her favorites this week, including Michael Connelly's The Scarecrow, Walter Mosley's The Long Fall, and several others. Sarah Weinman offered up her choices for the Los Angeles Times, topped off by Ravens by George Dawes Green. Check out both lists for some great reads and gift ideas, too.
