Jamie Freveletti is a trial attorney, holds a black belt in aikido and is an avid runner. Since turning her attention to writing, she has excelled there, too. Her debut novel Running from the Devil, featuring biochemist Emma Caldridge, received the Best First Novel award from the International Thriller Writers and the Barrys and was also nominated for Macavity and Crimespreee awards.
The third installment in Jamie's series with Emma Caldridge, The Ninth Day, was released in September, 2011 and finds Caldridge prisoner of a drug lord in Mexico after stumbling upon human traffickers, where she soon learns first-hand about a flesh-eating toxin infecting marijuana leaves and humans.
Jamie's holiday offering is also one of my favorites:
My most treasured Christmas tradition isn't a memory but happens every year! It's watching my childhood favorite, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas with my children. We have the tape and watch it each year, followed by White Christmas. Recently I was in the car with my teenage daughter and the Grinch song came on. We started singing along with the fabulous voice of Thurl Ravenscroft, "You're a mean one, Mister Grinch..."
One of my favorite charities at Christmas time is The Greater Chicago Food Depository (a nonprofit food distribution and training center distributing food through a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters).
