Gotta have this one. Thanks.

Hey, was that a trigger to see who was paying attention? Muller's detectives include her quasi-alter-ego Sharon McCone and several others (though McCone, I think, is the only one to interact with her husband's quasi-a/e, Bill Pronzini and his nameless detective). I'd suggest that Paretsky's Warshawski is the toughest of the three PI series foremothers' primary characters, or at least the one you'd least enjoy scrapping with vs. Muller's or Grafton's...even the lukewarm film with Kathleen Turner got some of that across.

No, that was a sleepy blogger trying to put up her posting near midnight! It's been corrected. But you're right - Sharon McCone, Kinsey Millhone and V.I. Warshawski are the evolved descendants of these pulp heroines.
