George Kelley

This is a great book and a must-buy for Ross Macdonald fans. I think Ross Macdonald was a better novelist than a short story writer, but these stories are still well worth reading.

BV Lawson

I agree with you about the stories vs. novels, George. But this is a very fine introduction to Lew Archer for neophytes.

Prashant C. Trikannad

This was a very nice post about Ross Macdonald and his work. He makes writing a novel look so easy.

BV Lawson

He was very prolific, Prashant, so I guess writing was easy him, and I am envious. I really enjoy the Archer character, and if Warner Bros. ever gets around to making the movie based on his book The Galton Case (which they optioned back in 2011), maybe it will create renewed interest in his works.

Kelly Robinson

I enjoyed reading the biographical stuff. I really don't know a lot about Ross Macdonald's life.

BV Lawson

Wouldn't it have been fun to be in that household, Kelly? Between Ross and his wife, Margaret Millar, there was quite a bit of creative writing, with over 50 books between them, dozens of stories, anthologies and TV/film scripts.
