Roger Spottiswoode (Tomorrow Never Dies) has been tapped to direct Hyperbaric, a psychological suspense film set aboard a crudely-built "narco-submarine" that carries a fortune in cocaine and four strangers with secrets, as the Coast Guard follows in hot pursuit.

Fishing Without Nets, the Sundance award-winning movie about Somali pirates, will be available in a digital form the same day it opens in a few theaters and via video-on-demand services, thanks to a deal the producers struck with Fox Home Entertainment.

Writer-director Howard J. Ford is taking on the thriller Never Let Go as his next project. The story follows an American single mother on vacation in a foreign country who takes the law into her own hands when her child is abducted, even as her political connections back in the U.S. raise the stakes.

Olga Kurylenko, who played the "Bond girl" in Quantum of Solace, has been hired to star in the indie thriller Little Mizz Innocent, about a seemingly innocent UN interpreter caught in a power struggle between the FBI and a criminal dynasty.

Universal Pictures announced that the upcoming Bourne sequel (wt, Bourne 5) starring Jeremy Renner won't be released in August 2015 as originally anticipated, giving it the new date of a year later in July 2016.

Magnolia Pictures released a trailer for The Two Faces of January, based on the 1960s Patricia Highsmith novel about a love triangle that erupts in a world of crime and deceit. The film will be available on demand August 28, with a theatrical release on September 26.

For Searchlight released an International trailer for The Drop, based on Dennis Lehane's short story "Animal Rescue" and starring Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and the late James Gandolfini.

Warner Brothers has released the first trailer for The Judge, featuring Robert Downey, Jr. as a big-city defense attorney who returns to his childhood home and ends up having to defend in court his estranged father (Robert Duvall), the town’s judge, when he's accused of murder.

Meanwhile, the Expendables 3 movie released a longer trailer for the upcoming sequel.

TELEVISION

The 2014 Critics’ Choice Television Awards were handed out last week. The winners included Breaking Bad for Best Drama Series; Fargo, Best Mini-Series; Matthew McConaughey (True Detective) for Best Actor in a Drama Series; Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Best Actress in a Drama Series; and Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo), Best Actor in a Mini-Series.

Netflix is recapping the plot of The Killing ahead of the premiere of its fourth and final season. The show stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as detectives investigating the brutal murder of a teenage girl in Seattle the subsequent discovery of a string of connected killings.

Game of Thrones actor Gethin Anthony is set to play Charles Manson in NBC's 13-episode Aquarius miniseries. He'll star opposite David Duchovny who plays an undercover cop who goes after the budding cult leader.

TV Guide held a Q&A with Chyler Leigh, who will portray tough New York detective Cat Sullivan in the upcoming new NBC action series Taxi Brooklyn, working with an unlikely partner, a cabbie named Leo (Jacky Ido).

Hampton Fluker will guest star on TNT's Major Crimes, in a role envisioned for a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff series. He'll play alpha male Jamey Perez, an ambitious third-generation LAPD officer who wants to spend his time in SWAT.

Before the first episode of the Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul is broadcast, AMC has already given the series a 13-episode second-season order, bringing the total to 23 episodes, although the show premiere has been pushed back to 2015. AMC also announced that Breaking Bad creator and showrunner Vince Gilligan will direct the series premiere.

THEATER

James Franco will direct Ally Sheedy in the Off-Broadway production of The Long Shrift at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater premiering in July. The play tells the story of a teenage boy jailed for rape and what happens when's he released and the accuser reappears in his life.

The contemporary music group eighth blackbird is performing Bryce Dessner's "Murder Ballades" on upcoming programs. The work is an arrangement of 19th century folk tunes that were used to recount the tales of grisly murders and spread them throughout Europe (like today's gossip magazines). You can catch the performance at the Lincoln Center Outdoor Concert series on July 25 the Damrosch Park Bandshell in NYC or at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, June 26h.
