Elgin Bleecker

Great review. – Lisbon, WW2, and murder – I need to find this book.

BV Lawson

I found my copy at my local library, Elgin - the source of many of my FFB titles. I think there have been some reissues recently, although I don't know if they're officially-sanctioned.

I read this several years ago and liked it immensely. I thought Eberhart did a wonderful job of keeping the suspense up with what was a limited (and shrinking) pool of suspects. And I liked the romantic subplot too, since it didn't overwhelm the mystery and the heroine didn't leave everything for the hero to solve. A worthwhile read.

Nice piece. It reminds me that I haven't read nearly enough of Eberhart's work. I'd better remedy that failing right away ...

Cheers,
Jeff

BV Lawson

Have you read more of her books, Deb? If you have other titles you especially appreciated, post them, and if I haven't read them, I'll look for them at the library.

BV Lawson

Hi, Jeff! There are so many underrated authors like Eberhart, I'm just glad Patti Abbott started FFB so we can all share and discuss them. Eberhart is one of those who should be read more widely than she is today.

This has long been on my wishlist. Your fine review has reminded me I should get to it quickly. Thanks.

Hope you can find a copy, Neer! I've definitely got to check the local library for more Eberhart books. Have I told everyone lately now much I love my local library?
