John

"bedazzled in a perpetual haze of Renaissance chiaroscuro" Really? How can you be bedazzled by a haze of shadows? Never heard of this writer or the series. I like the description of the characters. Dirge for a Doge! I'd read that one based on the poetic cleverness of the title alone.

BV Lawson

Yeah, I kind of grinned at that one, too, John. And yes, I love the "Dirge for a Doge," which I'll have to track down, maybe on inter-library loan.

Matt Paust

Kirkus's fingers no doubt got befuddled trying to type "bedoozled."

BV Lawson

I kind of like "aswirl," too. I think I'll have to use that one. ;-)
