Many of you have heard the instrument known as the theremin. You might not realize you've heard it, but if you've ever watched old sci-fi and horror movies, you've most definitely experienced it at least once in the film score. The theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the thereminist's hand movements and is named after its Russian inventor, Léon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928. Even if you were familiar with instrument, did you know someone wrote a concerto for it?
